Frequently asked questions

Don’t see your question? Call or text us.

How much does the consultation cost?

Nothing. The first consultation is free, with no obligation.

Do I pay anything if there is no recovery?

No. In car accident cases, if there is no recovery, you pay no attorney’s fees and we absorb the case costs.

Is what I tell you confidential?

Yes. What you tell us in the consultation is confidential, even if you decide not to hire us.

Do you speak Spanish?

Yes. We serve clients in Spanish and English.

Which areas do you serve?

Car accident cases throughout Florida. Criminal defense in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Manatee and Hernando counties.

Can I make a claim if I don’t have a driver’s license or immigration papers?

Yes. In Florida, you can file an injury claim after a car accident even without a driver’s license or legal immigration status. Insurance companies pay based on who caused the crash and your injuries, not your status. Your information stays confidential.

What is PIP, and what is the 14-day rule?

PIP (Personal Injury Protection) is the insurance every Florida vehicle owner must carry. It pays up to $10,000, usually 80% of reasonable medical bills and 60% of lost wages, no matter who caused the crash. To use it, you must get initial medical care within 14 days of the accident.

How long do I have to file a car accident claim in Florida?

For most accidents on or after March 24, 2023, you have 2 years to file a negligence lawsuit. If you were more than 50% at fault, Florida law does not allow you to recover damages from the other driver.

Can a criminal charge affect my immigration status?

It can. Some convictions, and even some pleas, can lead to deportation or block a future green card. Before accepting any plea, attorney Tony López reviews how the charge could affect your immigration situation.
